主语 + protect + A（名词）+ from/against + B（另一名词）/ doing（动词进行时）——?保护A不被B怎样怎样 / 保护A不干啥
例：He had no raincoat to?protect?himself from the rain. 他没有雨衣来保护他不被雨淋湿。
例：Sunscreen helps to?protect against?sunburn. 防晒霜有助于保护（人们）不被日光灼伤。
Prevent（阻止）：
主语 + prevent + A（名词）—— 防止A的发生
例：Seatbelts in cars often?prevent?serious injuries. 安全带经常防止重伤的发生。
主语 + prevent + A（名词）+ from/against + B（另一名词）/ doing（动词进行时） ——防止B发生在A身上 / 防止A做某事
例：He grabbed my arm to?prevent?me?from?falling. 他抓住我的手臂以阻止我摔倒。
例：How are you going to?prevent?him?from?finding out about the party? 你如何阻止他发现这场聚会上发生了啥事？

from介词之后常跟对公众或社会整体影响不太大的普通词语.如果后面接较大的事件或较重要的东西,如战争、灾害、骚扰、税款等时,from多由against代替.
如：I want to put on more clothes to protect myself from cold．我想多穿件衣服,以防受凉.
We should try our best to protect children from danger．我们应该尽力保护儿童免受危害.
